Policy development, lobbying and advocacy

Under the direction of Council and the CEO, staff at the Association carry out research and analysis on issues which affect or have the potential to affect dental practice in New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory.
The Branch interacts on a daily basis with a diverse range of organisations and institutions such as:
  • Members of Parliament
  • Government departments or agencies
  • Regulatory authorities
  • Educational institutions
  • Professional associations
  • Social and community services sector
  • The media
The Branch provides input and makes recommendations on issues affecting the regulation and practice of dentistry, as well as engaging in advocacy and lobbying on behalf of members and the profession. Visit our media section where you can see the various submissions ADA NSW has presented as well as our past press releases.
Increasingly, the Branch also works with bodies within the social and community services sector, particularly on issues relating to access to affordable and appropriate oral health services for all members of the community.
ADA NSW and Council of Social Service of NSW (NCOSS) co-hosted a public dental forum at Parliament House on Wednesday 26 September 2007, bringing together a broad coalition of organisations concerned about the lack of progress in implementing recommendations from the Legislative Council Dental Services Inquiry.
ADA Inc also lobbies and provides recommendations to the Federal Government on issues relating to dentistry on a national level.
