New Program
The focus of this intensive two-day workshop is on single and partially
edentulous cases. It has been designed for restorative clinicians and
technicians who have completed basic training and wish to improve their
knowledge and practical expertise prior to more complex cases.
Upon completion, the clinician will have enhanced knowledge in the
principles and practicalities of the surgical co-ordination and
prosthodontic management of a variety of cases. The aim of the workshop
is to make implant dentistry easier, more fun and more profitable and to
provide a better quality of life for our patients.
Topics include
- Pre-operative clinical assessment
- Treatment planning protocol and documentation
- Co-ordinating orthodontics and implants
- Radiographic assessment
- Implant registration at Stage 1 surgery and guided soft tissue
healing
- Review of the full range of restorative components
- Abutment selection
- Communication with laboratory
- Developing an aesthetic emergence profile
- Try-in and issue of prosthesis
- Combining teeth and implants as bridge abutments
- Mandibular over-dentures
- Identification and management of complications
- Implant practice management issues
Participants are encouraged to bring along past, current or potential
implant cases for discussion.

About the presenters
Adj A/Prof Richard Chan is a graduate of the University
of Sydney and has published and lectured extensively locally and
internationally on restorative and implant dentistry. He has been
coordinator for several implant training courses and the Graduate
Diploma in Oral Implants at the University of Sydney (1999 to 2007).
Dr Ben Lee completed his MDSc in Prosthodontics from University of
Sydney and has been working as a specialist prosthodontist in private
practice and a visiting tutor at Westmead Hospital. He has received
Young Prosthodontist Award from The International College of
Prosthodontists and has given presentations on a variety of topics.
