An intensive 2-day learning experience to give the participants exposure
to different implant systems from major implant manufacturers as well as
materials and armamentarium used in contemporary implant therapy in an
unbiased environment.
- Lectures, workshops, technique exercises on cadavers and case
presentations
- Live surgery featuring GBR, soft tissue graft and lateral approach
sinus graft
- Full day hands-on workshop on fresh frozen cadaver specimens
- Opportunity to use implants from Henry Schein Halas, Biomet 3i,
Astra Tech Dental & Nobel Biocare
- Instruction and clinical application of bone graft materials and
membranes
- Comprehensive overview of bone and soft tissue harvesting,
augmentation procedures & materials
- Overview of site development techniques & materials:
- Soft tissue aesthetics
- Immediate implant placement
- Bone Augmentation – GBR and
block
graft
- Staged & simultaneous implant
placement +GBR
- Opportunity to try different Piezon surgery units
- Treatment plan/discussion for “cadaver patients” for Day
2 including cone beam CT scans analysis of the cadavers
- Participants’ case presentations
- Management of complications
About the presenters
Adj A/Prof Richard Chan is a graduate of
the University of Sydney and has published and lectured extensively locally and internationally on
restorative and implant dentistry. He has been
coordinator for several implant training courses
and the Graduate Diploma in Oral Implants at
the University of Sydney (1999 to
2007).
Dr Kevin
Todes is currently in full time specialist
practice in Sydney and has lectured nationally and inter-nationally on
the topics of Periodontal Plastic Surgery, Implant Dentistry and Oral
Medicine. He is a Fellow of the RACDS in the special field of
Periodontics, a member of the ADA, ASP and the Academy of
Osseointegration.
Dr Natalie Leow is a specialist periodontist in private practice in Sydney.
She obtained her BDS (Hons) and MDSc (Perio) from the University of
Sydney where she remains a part-time Clinical Associate Lecturer in
Periodontics. Natalie won an ITI scholarship in 2006 and spent 12 months
gaining further implant surgical and restorative experience at Harvard
University in Boston, USA.
