Inhalation SedationPresented by Dr Steven ParkerConsolidate your knowledge of all aspects of inhalation anxiety relief and oral sedation techniques Nitrous oxide-oxygen inhalation is a highly effective way of providing relief from anxiety during dental procedures. Recently, another analgesic inhalational agent (Penthrox™) has become available to dentistry. This course covers what you need to know to use these agents safely and with confidence. All participants will have the opportunity to administer and experience the full range of effects of relative analgesia using nitrous oxide-oxygen and Penthrox™. Participants completing the course will feel confident in setting up and administering both anxiety-relieving agents. Topics include
IMPORTANT NOTE During the practical session, participants will work in groups and administer both slow and fast nitrous oxide-oxygen induction and experience the effects of Penthrox™. It is essential that all participants wishing to perform any procedure on a colleague in a learning environment are registered dental professionals. Importantly, participants who intend to experience the effects of the inhalational analgesic agents must not drive home - alternative arrangements should be made. About the PresenterDr Steven Parker has completed postgraduate
diplomas in both oral surgery and sedation, and pain control. He
provides oral surgical and sedation services to private practices in the
Sydney region, and lectures widely in continuing education programs. |
