Clinical Local AnaesthesiaPresented by Dr Steven ParkerLocal anaesthetics form the backbone of pain control in dentistry. While the most commonly performed dental procedure, there are few opportunities for practitioners to update their knowledge and skills in this vital aspect of practice. This program aims to improve your understanding of local anaesthetic agents and help you to master techniques that are seldom taught in undergraduate training. In this workshop you will review relevant neuro-physiology, the pharmacology of local anaesthetic agents, complications and systemic overdose. Hands-on sessions will cover
Participants will have the opportunity to administer any or all of these techniques under supervision. Local anaesthetic selection and needle choices will be addressed, and tips on how to increase your ‘hit rate’ with the mandibular block. Computer-controlled anaesthetic delivery systems will also be discussed. IMPORTANT NOTE Participants will have the opportunity to administer a variety of injections to fellow participants during this workshop. Dentists from jurisdictions other than NSW must register to practice in NSW to perform these procedures.
